BKK Prime Minister Graces Abaisanza clan Rumogi Cluster Annual General Meeting.

The Prime Minister of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom (BKK), Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi, yesterday evening graced the Abaisanza Clan Rumogi Cluster Annual General Meeting held at Rumogi in Kikuube District, calling on clan members to remain united, organized, and committed to cultural preservation and socio-economic transformation.

The Prime Minister arrived at the venue to a warm reception marked by a lively brass band and jubilant Abaisanza clan members who turned out in large numbers for the annual gathering. He was accompanied by the Buhaguzi county chief Owek. Baleke Gerald. In his keynote address, Owek. Byakutaga conveyed greetings from His Royal Majesty Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, and congratulated members for successfully celebrating Christmas. He commended the Abaisanza Clan for their efforts to reorganize and strengthen clan structures, describing the initiative as vital in revitalizing Bunyoro-Kitara’s cultural heritage.

The Prime Minister emphasized the historical importance of clans in the governance and administration of the Kingdom, noting that Bunyoro-Kitara has traditionally been organized around clans, with the Omukama as the overall head. He described the Abaisanza as one of the original clans whose history and contribution must be properly documented for future generations. Highlighting the role of clans and clan leaders, Owek. Byakutaga explained that clans serve as the foundation of social administration, promote discipline and values, and safeguard members from social and cultural decline. He added that clan leaders play a critical role in mobilizing members for development, promoting peace, managing resources, and acting as a vital link between the Kingdom leadership and the grassroots.

The Prime Minister thanked the cluster for coming up with a website,register but urged the Abaisanza clan leadership to register all members from the village level up to the Kingdom, document their clan history, and regularly update their leadership and management structures with BKK. He further encouraged families to prioritize education so that their children can competitively benefit from emerging opportunities, especially in the oil and gas sector.

On health and social welfare, Owek. Byakutaga called on members to actively prevent HIV/AIDS and support those affected. He also emphasized the need to protect land, use it productively, and promote household food security through agriculture, including coffee, cocoa, soya beans, and poultry farming. Touching on governance and politics, the Prime Minister appealed for peaceful participation in the upcoming elections, urging clan members to avoid violence, abusive language, and voter bribery. He encouraged them to elect leaders who uphold peace, promote development, respect culture, and can effectively represent the Kingdom at the national level.

In conclusion, Owek. Byakutaga reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting clans in reorganizing their members to achieve social and economic transformation. He encouraged clan leaders to keep annual records of progress and to make regular reports to the Omukama.
